The United States – India Educational Foundation (USIEF) promotes mutual understanding between the nationals of India and the U.S. through the educational exchange of outstanding scholars, professionals and students. Since its inception, USIEF has awarded approximately 20,000 Fulbright, Fulbright-Nehru, and other prestigious grants and scholarships in almost every academic discipline.
Tapping the talent of Fulbright students and scholars, USIEF holds dozens of academic or professional workshops each year. In addition to fellowship support, USIEF services include advising Indian citizens on higher education opportunities in the U.S. USIEF also consults with Indian and U.S. universities interested in developing linkages and exchanges.
The incumbent ensures the accuracy of the books of accounts and proper allocation of expenses; regularly reviews the centralized accounting system to ensure proper maintenance of fiscal records in compliance with the Foundation’s guidelines; coordinates with the USIEF regional offices for financial administration; liaises with banking officials and colleagues at the U.S. Government (USG), Government of India (GOI); compiles various financial statements and reports of the Foundation in coordination with the Senior Fiscal Officer. The position is full time (40 hours per week).
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Oversee financial administration for Fulbright-Nehru and other Fulbright fellowship programs.
- Oversee financial administration for EducationUSA Program, including preparation of annual budget and grant requests. Compile periodic reports for submission to funding agencies.
- Coordinate with auditors for USIEF’s annual internal and statutory audits, grant utilization certificates for GOI, and tax reimbursement statement.
- Review the general accounting system regularly and compile various fiscal reports as required by USG, GOI, and other agencies.
- Ensure compliance of income-tax, GST and other applicable Indian laws.
- Prepare draft budget for USG grant proposals and submit amendments for existing grants if required. Compile periodic reports for submission to the USG funding agencies.
- Maintain record of receivables and ensure regular follow ups as necessary.
- Coordinate Foundation’s banking operations including investments.
- Any other responsibility as assigned by the Senior Fiscal Officer.
