The genesis of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) dates back to 1884 when it started its journey as a small workshop to repair vessels of River Steam Navigation Company. In 1934, the Company was registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1913 and started its new journey as Garden Reach Workshops (GRW) Limited. The Company was acquired by the Government of India in the year 1960 and there was no looking back since then. The 1st warship of Independent India, INS Ajay was delivered to the Indian Navy in 1961, within one year of being taken over by the Ministry of Defence. GRSE, a Mini Ratna Category 1 Company has delivered 107 warships to Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Mauritius Coast Guard and Seychelles Coast Guard since 1960 & is the only Indian Shipyard to achieve this Centennial Mark. The shipyard has received ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 and 50001 certification. The 1st warship for export by India was delivered by GRSE to Mauritius in 2014, Offshore Patrol Vessel, CGS Barracuda. The Shipyard has built a wide array of vessels, from world class Frigates to Fast Attack Crafts. GRSE is the only Defence Shipyard to have diversified into engineering business with a product profile of pre-fabricated steel bridges, various deck machinery items & assembly/ testing/ overhauling of marine diesel engines.

SELECTION PROCESS :-
i) Screening based on years of relevant experience, % of marks in qualifying examination etc. at the discretion of GRSE management may be carried out for
shortlisting candidates for written test.
ii) The method of selection will be based on Written Test and Practical Test.
(A) Written test
i) Written test will be held in Kolkata & Ranchi. Based on the number of responses the test center may be changed as per the discretion of the Management.
ii) No TA will be paid to candidates for appearing in the Written Test.
iii) Pattern of Written Test -
1. Part-A (Objective Type) (10th Standard)
- General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mental ability, Data analysis, English, Numerical ability & Reasoning 20 Questions For 20 Marks
2. Part-B (Objective Type) (80 Questions) of finance discipline for 80 marks
• Duration of Written Test – 02 Hours.
• Question paper language – Bi-lingual
(English & Hindi).
• Question paper type – Objective type with Multiple Choice Questions.
• Qualifying marks: Overall 50% marks in
written test (out of 100) (45% of
SC/ST/OBC/PwBD)
iv) Selection for Supervisor (FT) in Finance disciplines will be based on merit in the Written Test.
v) Written test for all the advertised post will be conducted simultaneously in a single session.
